Laser Use Requires Eye Protection For All!

At CANINE REHAB OF NEW YORK we offer the following cutting-edge Therapeutic Modalities.

Companion Class IV Laser
Laser therapy can benefit a wide variety of patients. It works in multiple ways to alleviate pain and inflammation, reduce swelling, stimulate nerve regeneration and repair tissues; all of which are essential to the overall outcome of the rehabilitation process. The treatments are safe, painless and fast.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)
TENS uses electrical impulses to stimulate nerves and block pain signals from reaching the brain. It may also increase the release of endorphins that are the body’s natural painkillers. The mild electrical current produced can treat both acute (post-surgical) and chronic (osteoarthritis) conditions.

Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)
Unlike TENS, which uses electrical impulses to block pain, NMES targets the nerves that control muscle contractions when your dog cannot contract them on their own. NMES can help to limit muscle atrophy, relax muscle spasms and increase range of motion and blood circulation to the affected area.

Acoustic Compression Therapy (ACT)
Acoustic Compression Therapy uses energy from sound waves to target specific tissues in and around the joints to reduce pain and inflammation. Currently, this modality in conjunction with underwater treadmill is one of our most effective treatments for osteoarthritis.

Therapeutic Ultrasound
Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to heat the deeper tissues in the body that a hot pack cannot reach. It targets specific areas to help speed up the healing process, decrease pain and increase elasticity of the tendons and ligaments. This modality is great as it will help increase the range of motion in joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments that have been restricted due to a chronic condition or injury.

Stance Analyzer™
The Stance Analyzer™ is a revolutionary system designed to objectively detect and quantify the percentage of weight a patient places on each limb. This information gives the veterinary practitioner valuable information for developing treatment protocols. The Stance Analyzer™ provides a valuable tool for monitoring improvement and validating physical rehabilitation treatments over time.
